Super Spoonbills had a fun packed and informative visit to our school's heritage village today! As part of our 45th National Day celebrations we had the opportunity to learn about traditional Emirati games, a look at a traditional coffee shop and see how water was kept cool in clay pots. We learnt about the 'Jewel of the Desert' the wondrous palm tree and how it was used to make walls, roofs, floor mats as well as baskets and even tasted some yummy dates (tamer)! We got to smell some Oud and find out about different Emirati perfumes and scents. After we learnt about Henna and other herbs and spices used in the UAE.
Last but not least we took part in some activities: Burka decorating, pot painting, face paints and helping to decorate a map of the UAE in our finger prints!
Please take a look at these pictures of what we got up to! I am sure you will agree we learnt a lot and had lots of fun!
